Good and bad TV commercials
Doing website marketing and after being a former internet marketing manager for a small company, I like to keep my eye out for amusing TV commercials. It’s funny to see how cheesy and stupid the commercials can get for some items.
Below are two examples of recent bad and good TV commercials. The first one tries to sell us an electronic shaving device while the second one is part of a series of commercials for an appliance store in Florida. After each commercial are my comments about its highlights.

Tyrannosaurus rex – Big, bad hunter!
So another was released where scientists were once again analyzing skulls of ancient dinosaurs to find out what they most likely were like back in their days. Not surprising (to me at least), scientists are saying that the mighty Tyrannosaurus rex was actually a hunter with an enhanced sense of smell rather than a scavenger as other recent claims were make.
Just looking at skeletons and life-sized models of the “terrible lizard” makes me believe that it always was a meat-eating hunter killer of the Cretaceous Period. Not that the dinosaur suddenly changed from being a hunter to a vegetarian or anything, but that I disbelieved the previous theories that it was a scavenger.
Check out this picture of a T-rex statue and tell me that it looks like a scavenger.

Nuclear-powered passenger aircraft
The concept for nuclear-powered aircraft is back in the news.
Keeping the future environment in mind, some people believe it’s time for this concept to be used to transport people around the world.
Forty years ago the U.S. government experimented with this concept for our long-range bombers. A special B-36 was converted into a nuclear bomber by having a miniature nuclear reactor installed in the rear of the aircraft and a heavy lead lining around the cabin to protect the crew. The aircraft was test flown with the reactor running, though the tests did not power the engines.

Mmmmm, very tasty!
This story is just awesome.
Apparently somebody found it wrong that workers were cutting up a dead deer inside of a “China King” restaurant and notified the health inspector. There’s no word if anybody could smell the deceased animal over the regular scents that fill up restaurants like that.

It’s finished!
This is a follow-up post to yesterday’s posting about my site IntruderPrevention.com.
– UPDATE – I no longer own or maintain www.IntruderPrevention.com
After spending hours uploading and configuring new add-ons and making sure that everything is working properly, I’m proud to say that the main work on that website is finally finished. I’ll just be doing minor daily updates to the news section each day, but the main work is complete until I add another section in the future. Right now that part isn’t even in the planning stages, so it’ll still be a while.

IntruderPrevention.com is available again!
Intruder Prevention was one of the first professional websites that I made. It’s essentially a website dedicated to educating people about home security and preventing a robbery or home invasion from occurring. It covers topics ranging from a general comparison of the national home security companies to securing your home to choosing the right kind of deadbolt lock. It also has a news article page that I update daily, with most of those stories dealing with home robberies and even armed home invasions.

Return of the zeppelins
As stated in news article, the classic German airships are returning to the skies. In fact, right now you can have a tour of San Francisco Bay in a modern day zeppelin, and there are plans of air tours being available in New York and Florida in the next couple of years.
I believe this is a fantastic idea, and personally, I only wonder why it took so long for such a thing to return to the skies.

Cooling trend?
As the title of this article says, I’m starting to question whether or not we’re in the beginning stages of a general cooling trend.
One of the hottest topics in the media these days is still the infamous “global warming.” That is, after the media complains about the status of the economy and the upcoming Presidential election, a common talking point is the global climate. Even though it’s no longer summertime with those blistering hot temperatures, apparently we still need to look out for “global warming.”

Joy of new software
The rain is falling outside and we’re experiencing our first real blast of cold air for the Fall season. Inside the climate-controlled environment I’m busy installing and configuring new software for my websites.
Most of the website software that I’m using is open sourced, that is, most people are encouraged to modify parts of its code and make attachments / modules / plug-ins / modifications to it. The good news is that most of the software has forums where people can post comments and discuss ways around design problems and other issues. The bad news is that not everybody speaks English or knows how to say things clearly. It’s easy to pull out half your hair trying to figure out how to make simple changes in the programs.
It’ll be nice once my sites are up and running and I only have to worry about basic security backup procedures and adding new content.
