About me

Dan & Jessica

Hello.

I’m Dan, the owner and author of this blog-style website.  As you can see in the photo, I’m happily in a relationship with Jessica, my wife.

Am I as serious and angry as some articles may seem?  No way.  I rely extensively on humor, whether it’s innocent or somewhat vulgar.  I don’t intend on turning away people with really sick jokes and profanity, so I try to keep the terminology on a level enjoyable for most people.  The key word here is “try.”  Some topics such as stupid people, asinine situations, or really bad advertising tend to bring out the more vulgar and disgusting side of me.

Still interested in learning more about me?

Okay.  You asked for it.

I’m originally from Detroit, Michigan, though I only lived there for my first seven years.  After that my immediate family moved down south to Atlanta, Georgia, and we’ve been in this area since then.  For college I went to the great state of Mississippi, and after graduation I returned back to the metro Atlanta area.  Am I a southerner?  No, I don’t consider myself as one.  Nor do I consider myself to be a northerner either.

My bragging rights include earning my black belt in tae-kwon-do when I was eleven years old.  I also earned my private pilot’s certificate when I was seventeen years old and a senior in high school.  Bragging rights also include excelling in my high school JROTC program as well as facing severe weather in my college’s storm chasing organization.  Heading into the path of a hurricane and having it count as a school activity?  Hell yeah!

One of the hardest parts of my life was the sudden loss of my brother (and best friend) back in September of 2010.  We’ll never know what medical condition took his life.  Everything seemed fine until nobody heard from him for a day and he was discovered inside of his home, but by then it was too late.  Depression is still there and while there are moments of incredible loneliness and sadness, I know that he wouldn’t want us to be this way.  Instead of being saddened by him not being here, I continually try to find ways to honor my brother and make him proud.

These days I’m working from home in the fascinating world of Internet marketing.  My wife and I happily live together, and we have a dog and a cat.

In my free time I’m an avid reader and a fan of movies and football, both college and professional.  Other areas of interest include photography, the paranormal and occult, ice hockey, auto racing, climate / severe weather, and a bunch of other random topics.

THE FLORIDA PROJECT

One of my other website projects is The Florida Project.

This website is basically anything and everything relating to the Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando theme parks. My family has been vacationing in central Florida since the early 1980s, and this is my way of sharing stories relating to the history and development of those theme parks.  So far The Florida Project includes over 330 theme park guidemaps, 70 vacation planning guides, tons of other brochures, and over 11,000 photos.

The Florida Project is still very much a work in progress.  I still need to add an additional 15,000-20,000 photos as well as videos and MP3s as well.  Unfortunately, the work is very time consuming and I continually fall behind schedule.  It’ll be finished . . . eventually.
